Police Officer Information for Cirencester Rural North

NameRankBio
Andrea Shutt PCSO

Cirencester born but having moved around the Cotswolds, Devon and London I became a PCSO in 2007 having joined the Constabulary in 2002 working in the Finance Department.

My career up until that point was interrupted by my five wonderful children – prior to being blessed with children I had a very busy career in the Retail hospitality industry having studied for an HND in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Studies in Torquay in 1986. I worked with BHS, House of Frasers Barkers in Kensington, Pearsons of Enfield and the Gardner Merchant (Directors Table) in Piccadilly returning to Cirencester in 1996 working in a local retail outlet and building society.

I am a real people person and thoroughly enjoy working with the very engaging community of Cirencester Rural North.

Mark Weedon PC

I am Police Constable 2071 Mark Weedon and I am on the Neighbourhood Policing Team in the Cotswolds Division covering the policing areas of Fairford and Lechlade and Cirencester Rural North.

I became a Police Constable in 2005, joining West Midlands Police.  In 2008 I transferred to Gloucestershire Constabulary where I was posted to Stow on the Wold.  I was a response officer covering the North Cotswolds for 6 years and then moved onto the Neighbourhood Policing Team at Cirencester Police Station.  I originally covered the policing area of Cirencester Rural South before moving to my current areas in late 2017.  I cover the communities of Cirencester Rural North and Fairford & Lechlade.

I really enjoy going into local schools and speaking with the students providing internet safety advice and telling the younger children what Police Officers do.  I think it is really beneficial to educate children that the Police are there to help people.

In my spare time I enjoy open water swimming, cycling and running

PC Ashley Weller (Rural and Wildlife Crime) PC

I am PC Ashley Weller, and I have been working in the police for 12 ½ years as of June 2018. 7 of those years were on a response unit in Birmingham and the remainder in the Cotswolds and Stroud.

My sole role in the Cotswolds is a Wildlife and Rural Crime Officer, where I deal with anything from farming issues in which police attention is required, wildlife crime problems, through to poaching and general rural crime.

I have an obsessive passion for the countryside and looking after it.

This sounds cheesy, but my job is partly my hobby. Not the paper work or corporate bit, but going out in to the country side and seeing some of the sights I see. I feel very lucky to work where I do.

Garrett Gloyn Sgt

A local lad who joined the Constabulary in 1996, I have spent almost all of my service working in the Stroud and Cotswolds districts. Promoted to Sergeant in 2004 I am now part of the Cotswolds Neighbourhood Policing Team and supervise a team of Constables and Community Support Officers. I love the variety of work that comes my way on a daily basis and get a great deal of job satisfaction from the impact that the teams work can have on the quality of life for residents in the district.

I am a keen runner, enjoy travelling, walking my two Golden Retrievers.

Andrew Wood Sgt

Sgt Wood joined Gloucestershire Constabulary as a Special Constable in Cirencester back in 1993, before joining the regular police in 1996. As a Police Constable, he initially worked in Charlton Kings and Cheltenham Town Centre, with occasional periods in Tewkesbury. After a stint on surveillance, he was posted to Gloucester South, covering the Hardwicke, Quedgeley , Podsmead and Tuffley areas of the city, and also as a guard in custody. Following promotion in 2003, he continued to work in these areas, with occasional periods as duty sgt for the whole of the city or the Forest of Dean.

In 2008 he was posted, initially to Cirencester, but then joined the duty sgt cadre covering the Cotswolds and Stroud areas. During that time he was temporarily promoted to Inspector, supervising the support services such as crime prevention, licensing, firearms and neighbourhood watch.

A return to Cirencester in 2011 has seen him perform roles as response Sgt and further periods of Inspector duties. In January 2018 he became part of the Neighbourhood team.

In addition to his day to day role, Sgt Wood is one of the constabularies Hostage and Crisis Negotiators and also coordinates searches for lost people. Involved with the Police Cadet scheme since its inception, he has recently stepped back from that function, but still provides inputs to their sessions.

Away from the police, Sgt Wood has an avid interest in aviation, and likes to play the guitar. A keen gym user, he holds a black belt in Kickboxing.

Darren Thomas LPSO

I have been working for the Constabulary for nine years.  I have been in several different roles during this time, but my current role is a Local Policing Support Officer and my responsibilities are mainly behind the scenes, looking after the police stations in the Cotswolds, and ensuring the officers have everything they need to carry out their roles in serving the public.

Over the last few months I’ve started attending Police Points and Community Events, bringing along a selection of Crime Prevention items for you to view and buy.  It has been great to get out into the community and to meet the public.

In my spare time I love to go walking and enjoy holidays in my caravan.
