Hedge End South Hampshire Constabulary Police Local Neighbourhood

I joined in January 2008 and was Response and Patrol for Gosport area. Since this I have worked out of Fareham Response and Patrol also. This is my first time in Neighbourhoods.

Since April 2015 I have been a neighbourhood police officer for Hedge End North and currently work in Hamble in Hedge End South. I have over 25 years experience in policing in numerous roles and locations in Hampshire. I believe neighbourhood policing is essential to maintain community contact and offer personal service in these modern changing times.

Sandy is the beat officer for Netley Abbey and Hound. She has been a police officer for over 25 years spending 15 years as a beat officer for the area. She has experience in surveillance, drugs and front line policing.

Sandy is a Dementia Champion and is a member of the Bursledon, Hamble and Hound Dementia Action Group. Sandy's favourite part of the job is public events, engaging with people and giving advice on safety and crime prevention.

I joined Hampshire Constabulary in 2015 and moved to Hedge End in 2016.

In my spare time I enjoy American football having played to a high level in the past. When you see me in the area feel free to stop for a chat, as I am interested to know what matters to you in the community.

My name is Rachel Barry and I have been based at Hedge End since June 2016. I joined Hampshire Constabulary in March 2016. I cover Bursledon and Netley beats. I am often out and about on my cycle and regularly visit the Scouts and Brownies.
In my spare time I like swimming and going to the gym and love all animals! I you see me out and about please come and say hello - it would be lovely to meet you.

Tracey has been part of the Neighbourhood Beat Team for Bursledon for almost two years, and is enjoying the change over to the Southern Parishes, having previously worked in the Hedge End for almost 5 years. She can be seen out and about engaging with the public on foot or bicycle. Before that she worked as a Special Constable for 5 years at Eastleigh Police Station until 2009. She was also employed by Hampshire Police Federation, based at Winchester Police Headquarters for 8 years. Before joining the Police family almost 20 years ago, she trained as a legal secretary. She has done a variety of police attachments over the years, but the role most important to her is Youth and Family Intervention - helping young people to refrain from entering the criminal system. Engagement and Prevention rather than cure. Communication with your community and multi-agency working is key! Get to know your people and work with them!

PCSO Scoates is part of the Neighbourhood Policing Team for Bursledon. Having been in the area for over 11 years she is well known to the community.

Theft
Project Kraken - Hamble River is an initiative that involves the local Police engaging with the marine community on the River Hamble. Regular contact is maintained with members and the river users are encouraged to report any suspicious activity on 101.

ASB
inappropriate noise and gatherings at the ruins, with many residents reporting damage to the ruins and people climbing to dangerous heights causing concern.

Reports of anti-social mopeds have all but stopped in the area and we are finding less old mopeds dumped in the woods. However, we are still getting incidents where young people are climbing on the ruins. This is so dangerous due to the height, but also as the ruins themselves have loose stones. The Fire Brigade have had to attend and rescue people trapped on the ruins. If you have children that play in the area please warn them of the dangers of climbing old structures.

Vehicle Crime
Motor bikes and mopeds have been causing ASB in Westwood Country Park, Netley. During patrol of Westwood, 32 stolen motorbikes and mopeds have been located hidden in Westwood and have been recovered.
