Romsey East Police Local Neighbourhood

I have been serving in Hampshire Constabulary since 2004. I have worked within various departments including Response and Patrol (covering, Eastleigh, Hedge End and Romsey) and Safeguarding where I worked within Child Abuse Investigation and the Missing and Exploited Team. I became the Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant for Romsey Town and Romsey East in February 2017.

I am now part of the Neighbourhood Policing Team that looks after North Baddesley, Chilworth, Rownhams & Nursling and the Knightwood areas. Our aim to is reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, protect the most vulnerable and pursue prolific offenders who are impacting on our area.

Burglary
The residents of Romsey East have chosen Dwelling Burglary as one of the community priorities

There have been a few dwelling and non dwelling burglaries in the east since beginning of December. Overnight on 9th December there were two non dwelling burglaries, one in Redbridge Lane had two chainsaws stolen and one in Danebury Way fortunately nothing was stolen. Overnight 12th December shed break in Horns Drove, nil stolen. Two dwelling breaks that occurred during the day on 8th January, both properties had an untidy search carried out and jewellery stolen.

Road traffic offences
The Romsey East community have been surveyed and have chosen vehicle related nuisance as one of their priorities for the Neighbourhood Policing Team.

9th January 2019 your local beat officers were working alongside the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) they carried out an operation around the area of Botley Road and Luzborough Lane.

Result of the action:

37 Vehicles were stopped

1 x Driver issued with a Traffic Offence Report for excess speed on Botley Road.

2x Vehicles were prohibited with drivers issued Traffic Offence Reports for having bald tyres.

1 x Vehicle seized with its driver issued with a Traffic Offence Report for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

1 x Fixed Penalty Notice for not correctly displaying a number plate.

1 x Vehicle and driver were searched under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

1 x Driver warned for leaving his vehicle unattended with the engine running.

We also carried out a number of roadside eyesight tests and gave verbal warnings for failing to wear seatbelts.
