Hart Rural North Hampshire Constabulary Police Local Neighbourhood

Hart Rural North is the policing area created following the merger of Hartley Wintney Ward, Eversley Ward and Hook Ward. Among others, it encompasses the villages of Hook, Hartley Wintney, Mattingley, Heckfield, Bramshill, Hazeley and Eversley.

The area predominantly consists of farmland, woodland and heathland and has numerous footpaths and bridleways popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders alike. Apart from Hartley Wintney and Hook High Street, the area has few retail businesses but a number of well established small family firms.

Significant landmarks are parts of the Stratfield Saye Estate, home to the 1st Duke of Wellington, which he acquired in 1817 following the Battle of Waterloo and Hazeley Heath which is one of the best preserved heathlands in Hampshire and has been notified a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its support for an array of plants and animals.

With warmer weather and lighter nights upon us we have seen a small increase in reports of anti social behaviour in open spaces. These reports have been reviewed with a view to identifying any common causes and/or locations. Should repeat locations be identified efforts will be made to engage with land owners with a view to altering the environment to make it less appealing/accessible for offenders. Play parks are common locations for Anti Social behaviour (ASB) to occur and we would ask our community to support our priority by reporting any concerns. Any offender/s identified will be dealt with as robustly as possible to stem any further problems occurring. We will continue in our efforts to patrols locations vulnerable to ASB and ensure that positive action is taken where possible.
02/05/2019
Our previous priority, Operation Rebate, has resulted in a focussed policing effort which has seen a decrease in offences. We are pleased to report that we have only received one report in the past 50 days. This is a dramatic decrease in comparison to previous months. Our most recent Police and Community Together Meeting (PACT) on 28/04/2019 resulted in this decrease being welcomed by attendees. It was agreed that this priority was now fulfilled and that another priority should take precedence. This time of year can see an increase in reports of Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) and to pre-empt any increase and tackle any identified areas/offenders our new priority has been elected.
