To tackle Anti-Social Behaviour especially nuisance motorbikes around Bendbow Rise and the park.

The bikes are quite often stolen from other areas but are then ridden around the estate often late at night causing a nuisance. We have produced and delivered leaflets around the area to encourage local residents to call us with any information as to who is riding these bikes and where they are being stored and already with have received calls enabling us to recover stolen motorbikes and return to the owners. We have also successfully seized legal bikes that have been ridden in an anti-social manner and the offenders reported for traffic offences. We are still in the process of working with the local police in the areas that the bikes are being stolen from to work on a joint operation to target the offenders.

A letter from the LPU Commander Inspector Brown was sent to residents in the area explaining what action officers have taken. The content of the letter is as follows:

Dear Residents,

Leicestershire Police and Leicester City Council are committed to reducing Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) throughout our neighbourhoods. In the Braunstone & Rowley Fields ward your local police have listened to your concerns about this issue and have formed a multi-agency team with our partners to tackle the most persistent perpetrators and to improve the quality of life in your area.

In recent months we have worked together to:

? Arrest and prosecute those involved in ASB and crime

? Apply for and obtain Criminal Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (CRASBO) against persistent
offenders

? Seize illegal and nuisance motorcycles, fine and prosecute their owners and riders

? Increase the provision of youth services

? Refer victims to support groups and agencies

? Work with the Leicester Anti-Social Behaviour Unit to take action against those tenants who
allow their children to be involved in crime and anti-social behaviour

Over the coming months we will continue with this work in order to continue to identify those who are harming our community and take action robustly against them. We will look for opportunities to use new powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

We are grateful to the support, encouragement and information we have received from local residents. This is invaluable in helping us to identify what problems you face, to identify those responsible and to take action. I encourage all those living and working in Braunstone & Rowley fields to continue to provide us with information.

You can pass information to us in the following ways:

? In a non-emergency, to Police using number 101, or by 999 in an emergency

To tackle Anti-social behaviour (ASB) involving knocking on residents' doors, throwing items at doors and windows and shouting verbal abuse in the areas of: Bendbow Rise, Raven Road, Morcote Road, Didsbury Street, Pollard Road between 2pm and 3am daily.

Officers have worked closely with the Council and Leicester Anti-Social Behaviour Unit after identifying those responsible and issued Anti-Social Behaviour Contracts. We also collated intel and evidence and by speaking to the local residents which ultimately lead to a Anti-Social Behaviour Order being obtained by the Police at Court for one of the main instigators. There have been a significant drop in the reported problems.

Anti-social behaviour involving young people climbing on residents properties, walls and garages and playing street football, causing the ball to hit motor vehicles in Gunthorpe Road during the hours 4pm and 10pm, most days of the week.

Following extensive consultation with residents, the neighbourhood team decided to adopt a multi-agency approach to tackle the issues that were being reported by concerned residents. Along with increased patrols the neighbourhood team worked with other agencies to address the issues being reported. One of the agencies was Street Vibe, a local young people's service, which attended the area and provided support and advice for young people in the area. High visibility patrols were completed, with officers spending specific time periods at the location. This proved valuable as they were able to engage with individuals and groups who were found to be involved in anti-social behaviour around the area, and ensuring that they were aware of how their actions could affect others. Individuals found causing ongoing issues have been dealt with by having anti-social behaviour warning letters sent to their parents. The neighbourhood team have worked together with partner agencies and during this time have had success in reducing the amount of anti-social behaviour being reported and have not had any anti-social behaviour related phone calls for the past three months. The neighbourhood team would like to thank the community for their help and for bringing this to their attention.

Anti-social behaviour involving knocking on residents' doors, throwing items at doors and windows and shouting verbal abuse in the area of Arden Terrace, Newcombe Road and Burnell Road, after 5pm, most days of the week.

Following extensive consultation with residents, the neighbourhood team adopted a multi-agency approach to tackle the issues that were being reported by concerned residents. A number of agencies worked alongside the neighbourhood team, offering support in tackling the anti-social behaviour. These agencies included the Leicester Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, Riverside Housing, Street Vibe (a local youth organisation) and Si Sports. High visibility patrols were completed, with officers spending specific time periods at the location. This proved valuable as they were able to engage with individuals and groups who were found to be involved in anti-social behaviour around the area, and ensure that they were aware of how their actions could affect others. Individuals found causing ongoing issues have been dealt with by being issued Acceptable Behaviour Contracts and "Yellow Cards". This is a scheme launched last year whereby anyone found using anti-social behaviour is issued with a written notice (yellow card) about their actions, and advised if they continue, further actions will be taken. In June 2011 the beat team attended a local school and gave a talk to all year six students about anti-social behaviour. The Street Vibe team attended the area to offer support and positive activities to young people in the area. Only one report of anti-social behaviour on Burnell Road was received in August 2011. No crimes were recorded on the police systems for the same month. Following on from the work that has been completed, a long term sports project has been created in association with Caldecote Primary School and Si Sports. The project will be in six weekly blocks offering an after school sports session, two Wednesdays every month. As Caldecote is near to Burnell Road/Arden Terrace it has been selected to offer young people an alternative to playing on the street, and to be able to engage in a positive activity. This project will start during the new school term.

Anti-social behaviour involving children playing football in the street, allowing the football to repeatedly hit residents windows, and when challenged they are verbally abusive towards the residents in the area of Winstanley Drive, occurring most days after 4pm.

Officers have conducted high visibility patrols in the area and completed street consultations with residents. Officers have worked with together with the local Councillor, Deputy Mayor and Highways department and after consultation the decision was made to change the bus shelter, being used by youths as a goal, into a bus stop. This has now been changed and the anti-social behaviour reports have now stopped. The bus shelter was relocated to another sight where residents had been asking for a bus shelter to be installed.

Anti-social behaviour involving knocking on residents' doors, throwing items at doors and windows and shouting verbal abuse in the area of Arden Terrace, Newcombe Road and Burnell Road, after 5pm most days of the week.

Although the neighbourhood team have reduced the amount of calls relating to anti-social behaviour in the past, over the last few weeks it appears that incidents have started to be reported again. The neighbourhood team are working to identify people involved in this anti-social behaviour and will work with others, including Leicester Anti-Social Behaviour Unit and Housing to address this issue. The team arranged talks with local schools, before the summer holiday regarding anti-social behaviour and will be completing specific patrols around the area at the times the anti-social behaviour is reportedly occurring.

Anti-social behaviour involving knocking on residents' doors, throwing items at doors and windows and shouting verbal abuse, in the area of Arden Terrace, Newcombe Road and Burnell Road, after 5pm most days of the week.

This was a previous priority for the Braunstone Park and Rowley Fields neighbourhood team. The period January to March 2011, the following work has been completed:
The neighbourhood team have completed extensive consultation in the area and have dealt with the individuals identified as causing the problems by making a number of arrests and using other appropriate actions such as issuing 'yellow cards' and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs). The neighbourhood team have also engaged with Youth Services in a hope of providing positive activities in the area. This priority will continue for the next three months.

Anti-social behaviour involving throwing items at windows, causing damage, being rowdy and inconsiderate in the area of the green located at the centre of Bendbow Rise, after 5pm during the week.

Issue dated: 01/02/2011

Action dated: 30/11/-0001

During the evening times a group of youths are causing problems for local residents by thrown items at windows, causing damage, being rowdy and inconsiderate. The main area that they congregate is at the play equipment on a green located at the centre of Bendbow Rise.

We were first alerted to this problem after a number of calls were received from concerned residents. Following this the beat team completed a street consultation in the specific area on Bendbow Rise that the problems were occurring. This identified what the problem was and where the incidents where taking place. Since this time we have been identifying the persons responsible for causing the problems that we were told about, and have worked with other agencies to reduce the number of incidents being reported and using existing powers we have been dealing with the individuals responsible. To date we have issued a number of Acceptable Behaviour Contacts, sent out Anti Social Behaviour letters, advising individuals about their actions. We have also had the area visited by a crime reduction officer to see what environmental changes could be made to help reduce the problems. The above has had seen a reduction in the amount of incidents being reported and the beat team will continue to monitor the situation.

Issue dated: 08/12/2010

Action dated: 15/02/2011

To reduce minor criminal damage, including damage to surrounding fences, and noise as a result of people playing games in the street on Blossom Road. This occurs during the evenings into the early hours of the morning.

High visibility patrolling is still being completed on a regular basis and it is pleasing to see that the reports of ASB have dropped since we started this PSP. The neighbourhood policing team have continued to work with other agencies, including De Montfort housing, and we are awaiting to see what results this has had. They will be completing a further street consultation over the next few weeks to see what effect this work has had, and see what further things can be done if the problems are continuing.

Issue dated: 08/12/2010

Action dated: 08/12/2010

To reduce anti-social behaviour involving young people causing damage to play equipment and flooring, graffiti and arson in a park on Wellinger Way and Webster Road. This occurs during the evenings and into the early hours of the morning.

Following some positive work and specific patrolling, the number of calls regarding the park itself has reduced. Although we noticed a reduction in the amount of reports we were receiving, we also wanted to see if the work we had completed had had any impact on the residents so a follow up street consultation was completed. During the consultation many residents were spoken to and updated with our efforts to eradicate the issues previously reported and the feedback was that we had been successful. We have fed back to the residents as to what we have done to resolve the issues raised, which has included the ASB response car completing regular patrols in the area, and to help monitor this a waymarker was set up to record how much time we have spent at the location and when. The Leicestershire Police Crime Reduction Officer visited and gave us some valuable information about crime reduction. We have also been working with the local housing association to address some of the previous damage caused to some items on the park, and essential repairs have been carried out. The feedback from residents has been positive as most of the residents have noticed the extra patrols and have felt reassured by our presence.
Since an offence of damage to the park back in April 2010 where two offenders paid for their damage via the RAIN scheme, we have had no incidents or crimes reported to us about damage to this park.
We are very pleased to have seen a reduction in the amount of incidents and by the positive remarks made by residents that the area has improved and they feel safer. The residents have also noted our increased presence. It was good to see the neighbourhood policing team had arranged and completed a consultation regarding our work and had given feedback to the community.

In relation to mini motos, we received four calls in relation to people riding them on Evesham Road and on Great Central Way.

To reduce reports of minor damage, theft and nuisance youths in Aylmer Road and Redmarle Road in Braunstone between 6pm and 3am daily.

As a result of positive action such as arrests, the issuing of dispersal notices and the issuing of Anti Social Behaviour Contracts to those involved, the number of incidents reported has reduced. Following consultation with residents and shopkeepers on Redmarle Road and Aylmer Road, this priority has now been closed, however we will continue to monitor the location.
