Neighbourhood Priorities for Bardon Hill

IssueActionDates

There are large groups of youths hanging around is the area; drinking, smoking and causing a general nuisance.
The youths are impacting on business as people are not wanting to use the centre or businesses as they worry about going past the group.

This generally occurs evening time between 18:00hrs-23:00hrs in the week and all times in the weekend.

The group of young people meet up and sit around smoking and playing music, this then causes people to feel intimidated and worried consequencly they then ring in/report anti social behaviour.

To tackle anti social use of off road motor cycles in the area of Kenmore Crescent and Bardon Quarry.

In May 2015, the Bardon Beat Team received a high number of reports from local residents on the Greenhill estate relating to loud noise caused by off-road motorcyclists riding their bikes on the woodland area between Bardon Quarry and Bradgate Drive, Greenhill.
The noise given off by the bikes is causing harassment, alarm and distress to the local residents. The Bardon Beat Team has taken action to tackle this issue by utilising the Power of Section 59 under the Police Reform Act 2002 and working closely with Bardon Quarry and partner agencies.
To date, 5 Section 59 Warnings have been given to off-road bikers and the amount of calls received from local residents have decreased. The Beat Team will continue to monitor this issue and address community concerns.

Update 05/07/2018 We continue to monitor reports of people using off road bikes, our patrolling has been directed towards this and we are working to identify riders and keepers of those.
We have in partnership with NWLDC secured funding for metal signs and with local business and Parish Councils are trying to get these signs in place as soon as possible and key work has also been carried out with local petrol stations again trying to deny the use of fuel to these riders.
