Neighbourhood Priorities for Oadby

There has been growing concerns with vehicle crime in the area. We have received a number of crime reports relating to "Theft from Motor Vehicles". Majority of this is criminals going around and checking car doors. Those vehicles that are insecure have had items stolen. There has been also a few incidents where forced entry has been committed as well. Due to the community concerns "Op Pioneer" has been launched in order to monitor vehicle crime in the area.

‘Op Pioneer’ was launched in the area to help combat theft from motor vehicles, most commonly theft of tools from vans. Over the past few weeks officers have been working hard to help reduce vehicle crime and as such several people have been arrested across the Leicestershire area in connection with such crimes.
Thank you everyone that has assisted the police in their enquiries.

We have been notified by local Retail Shops on the Parade in Oadby that there appears to be an increase of theft from stores. Your local team are working closely with retail shops and developing new ways in getting all retail stores to talk together and share information in order to identify the shoplifters and deter them away. We are using social media and forming links together to try and combat this. Local shops are now able to update other retail shops of anyone committing crime or ASB.

Local shops on the parade has been working together with other retailers and the Police. They have all formed an online group where they are able to communicate issues together. This seems to have reduced the concern for shop thefts and allows the Police to also keep in touch with the local community by using the Safeland App.

To tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) within the Oadby area.

Since July 2013 we have responded to numerous anti-social behaviour (ASB) problems which have been identified by both the public and the police by using Crime Pattern Analysis.

Residents of Carberry Close and Hayden Avenue raised concerns regarding drug use and noise nuisance from youths gathering in the locality late at night. Local officers deployed signs, conducted patrols and gave ASB advice notices where applicable.

Also in July 2013, Hamble Road residents reported issues with youths gathering in the area late at night, playing loud music from vehicles and kicking footballs against resident's walls. Again, police took action in the form of high visibility patrols and erected signage advising that police were tackling ASB incidents. Reported incidents have drastically reduced as a consequence.

Throughout August 2013, a number of damages occurred on Meadowcourt Road and through vigilant patrolling police were able to take action and a suspect was apprehended.

In November 2013 residents of Bonner Close and Hawker Road made complaints regarding youths in vehicles gathering in the area, playing loud music and drinking. As a result of police action this issue has now been significantly reduced.

At the March 2014 Oadby Residents Forum, local residents raised the issue of ASB and drug use on Fludes Lane in Oadby The local beat team conducted a series of overt and covert patrols over a period of months but no issues transpired.

The Oadby Safer Neighbourhood Team continues to proactively patrol all areas of Oadby and will respond to any issues raised by local residents.
