I cover the Millfield, Pallion, Deptford and Sunderland Royal Hospital areas of Sunderland.

I have over ten years experience as a uniformed officer. I have always worked in Sunderland, beginning in Southwick. After two years I moved to the town centre and in 2003 I commenced my role as Neighbourhood Beat Manager.

My role includes developing local knowledge by making close contact with people including shop owners, businesses, schools, Neighbourhood Watch representatives and Community Organisations. I also:

• Provide a high visibility presence to reassure the community and tackle crime and disorder problems.

• Identify problems of crime and disorder and adopt a problem solving approach involving outside agencies where possible.

• Arrange and attend Neighbourhood Watch meetings.

• Monitor and visit repeat victims of crime and racial incidents.

• Strengthen the links with schools by visiting and talking to pupils in assemblies and pre-arranged talks.

I joined the Metropolitan Police in 1985 and served in the Wembley area of London until I transferred to Northumbria Police in 1989.

Upon transferring I was posted to the Sunderland Area Command and have served in the area throughout this time. I have spent the majority of my time working in the Hendon area, however I have also worked in the Millfield, Barnes and Grangetown areas. I have also spent about three years working in the Sunderland North Area Command covering all areas on that side of the water.

I transferred to my current role, as a Neighbourhood Beat Manager, in February 2006 and have enjoyed the variety of work it involves, which is in both residential and commercial. I attend numerous meetings which includes the City Centre Shopwatch Scheme and local residents meetings with the occupants of Astral, Planet and Solar House.

I am also involved with the Sunderland Shopwatch Scheme which involves the monitoring of retail premises in the Sunderland City area. My aims in my role are:

• Combat all kinds of disorder, eg drunkenness,public order and violence by taking positive action against the offenders.

• Target prolific offenders for theft,criminal damage, burglary and disorder.

• Provide high visibility patrols to deter such offences

• Build closer contacts with people who reside or work in the city centre.

I believe with the support and assistance of the community we can not only work towards the reduction of crime but also reduce the fear of crime.

I have over 20 years police experience having been based in Sunderland all of my career. I have been in my current role for the last ten years. During this period I have formed a strong relationship with the Bangladeshi community in the Hendon area and I am a point of contact for this area.

I am also the police liaison for the PubWatch scheme which is a group formed by all the licensed premises in the City Centre. My priorities are:

• The identification of problems of crime, disorder and other quality of life issues experienced by all sections of the local community particularly vulnerable groups.

• Involvement in problem solving initiatives aimed at addressing the underlying causes of many of these issues.

• The provision of a highly visible uniform presence aimed at reassuring the local community and reducing the fear of crime.

I have more than 15 years experience all of which has been in Sunderland. I have been in my current role for the past nine years.

The city centre is a predominantly commercial area consisting of shops, offices and licensed premises. However, due to the massive regeneration currently being carried out in Sunderland City there are now a large number of residential properties.

 My aims include:

• Combating all kinds of disorder, such as drunkenness, public order and violence, by taking positive action against the offenders.

• Targeting prolific offenders.

• Providing high visibility patrols to deter such offenders and also to make myself approachable to members of the community to build closer contacts with the people who live, work and visit the city centre.

I joined Northumbria Police in 2002, the majority of which has been served on a Neighbourhood Policing Team in Sunderland.

Working within Sunderland City Centre is a challenging role where you get to meet a variety of different people. My aim is to reduce the level of crime and anti-social behaviour in this area making the area a safe environment for commuters.

I provide high visible pro-active patrols to deter any offending; at the same time engaging with staff from partner agencies to build up closer working relationships; in order to reduce crime and the fear of crime.

I work closely with representatives from the local authority and have helped secure Sunderland's first Drink Banning Order.

My role as the supervisor of the Neighbourhood Policing Team is to address any issues raised by the local Community. I will endeavor to provide a high standard of policing in relation to Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour which affect the quality of life for many people within the area, including vulnerable groups.

I work closely with the Sunderland City Centre Retail Sector, Sunderland City Council, Gentoo and Elected Councillors. Together and in partnership with these other agencies we will work hard to tackle and resolve matters of local concern.

My team wil provide high visibility patrols in the right locations at the right times ensuring a reduction in the fear of crime with prevention as a major priority.
