My role as a PCSO is to contribute to the policing of neighbourhoods, primarily through highly visible patrol.

The main aims of my role are to:

• Increase public reassurance.

• Increase orderliness in public places.

• Be accessible to communities and partner agencies working it local level to aid local problem solving.

Other tasks that I may carry out involve gathering intelligence, collecting CCTV evidence, carrying out door to door enquiries, providing witness statements to support ASBO applications as well as dealing with nuisance offences such as people drinking in the street.

I am often on patrol in the community where the perception of disorder is high, or to specific incidents of disorder. I also work closely with partnership agencies to actively engage with the community to maintain a joined up problem solving approach.

I am a Neighbourhood Beat Manager on the Neighbourhood Policing Team covering Hendon and the East End.

I patrol the area of Ryhope Road bounded by Gray Road, Mowbray Road and Salem Street.

My main role is tackling crime and anti-social behaviour by monitoring reported incidents and directing resources towards any problems.  I want to help reduce crime and disorder in the area and see those who are responsible held to account.

I also look at persistent issues and try to find long term solutions. I'm keen to build close ties with the people who live and work in the community and I'm particularly keen to gather information from the community on a wide range of issues, treating all calls in confidence.

I joined Northumbria Police in 1989 and I have spent the majority of my service working in Sunderland, firstly as a uniformed constable, then as a detective for around six years and more recently as a Neighbourhood Beat Manager.

I joined Sunderland East Neighbourhood Policing Team in September 2011 and am the Neighbourhood Beat Manager for Doxford Park.

I have been a police officer in Sunderland for more than 20 years and the Neighbourhood Beat Manager for Doxford Park, Moorside and Hall Farm for the past six years.

I have six years experience of the police service, four of which were working on a 24/7 reactive shift in the Sunderland West area. The last two years I have been in my current role as beat manager.

The police have a massive part to play in achieving those aims but we are unable to do so alone. We also draw upon the resources of our partners such as Gentoo and Sunderland City Council to ensure we are able to focus and respond to ongoing issues. The Neighbourhood Beat Manager is a vital link between the community and the Police, providing a familiar face to local policing.

My role is to establish contact with the full range of people within each community and help to tackle any problems by working in partnership with stakeholders.

I am a member of the Sunderland East Neighbourhood Police Team which covers the "long streets" of Hendon and the communities of Grangetown and Ryhope. As Neighbourhood Beat Manager I serve the community of Grangetown by reducing crime and disorder and also the fear of crime by visibly patrolling the area and by identifying problems, adopting a long-term problem-solving approach to work towards solutions.

Working with partner organisations such as Sunderland City Council and the Gentoo Housing Group is extremely important in my day to day work, as of course is meeting and speaking to the residents of Grangetown themselves.

I have 15 years police service. I spent over ten years working on a 24-7 reactive shift, during which time I had responsibility for Ryhope and Grangetown so the transition to the role of Neighbourhood Beat Manager for the area was a smooth one to undertake.
