I am the Police Community Support Officer for Fulwell, High Southwick and Carley Hill.  As a Community Support Officer I work with your Neighbourhood Beat Manager and together with our colleagues from surrounding areas we form the Neighbourhood Policing Team for Sunderland North.  I attend the same shift briefings as regular Police Officers and often carry out joint operations and patrols with them.  My main aim is to provide public reassurance to the local community and I do this by providing high visibility patrols focusing on low level crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour

I work from Southwick Neighbourhood Police Office and can be contacted at any time using the Police non-emergency telephone number 101.  I have a good variety of experience with Northumbria Police and I’m happy to speak to anyone regarding crime prevention and other matters being tackled in your area.  To this end I attend the monthly Fulwell Police and Community Meetings and the details of upcoming meetings can be found on the Northumbria Police website.

I am the Neighbourhood Inspector for Sunderland North area. This diverse area includes the Sea front and the residential areas of Roker, Seaburn and Fulwell. I am also responsible for the large residential areas up to the A19 including Southwick, Witherwack, Redhouse, Castletown, Downhill and Town End Farm.

My role is to manage the crime and disorder performance of the area and provide a high quality service to all communities. This involves leading two dedicated policing teams and working in partnership with several key agencies.

The two Neighbourhood police teams are each led by a Sergeant and include Neighbourhood Beat Managers and Community Support Officers.  These teams supported closely be other resources in the
Area Command and other specialist departments work hard to make
Sunderland a better place to live work and visit.

My priorities include:

• Making life difficult for those who commit crime and anti-social behaviour

• Obtaining the best results for the area with regard to the reduction of crime and disorder

• Working hard to maintain the excellent crime detection rates that we achieve

I am a Neighbourhood Beat Manager for Redhouse area. I have worked for the police since the year 2000, all of that time has been spent in the Sunderland area.

My priorities are to focus on criminal damage, environmental issues and the effective investigation of crime.

I enjoy working with all members of my community, including offenders. I use effective communication to provide reassurance and to divert people away from crime.

As a result of working within the community and listening to people and their main concerns, it would appear that your main issue is disorder by youths including alcohol related disorder and associated damage.

This gives people the wrong impression of areas which is generally a safe and pleasant place to live.

Your main areas of concern have been Rawmarsh Road shopping precinct and graffiti, where I have recently made several arrests and worked with the youth offending service to get offenders to clean off the graffiti as part of their punishment. 

I am currently working with Sunderland City Council to make changes to the rear of the shops to reduce the opportunity for youths to hide away and cause a nuisance and damage.

Another area of concern was the Ash Path at the rear of Bishop Harland Primary School where youths congregated to drink and cause damage by throwing stones at the school windows. I have in the past 10 weeks done two site visits with GENTOO, Sunderland City Council and the manager of Downhill Sports Complex to discuss how the area can be improved and had loose stones and rubbish picked up by youths involved with the Youth Offending Service.

Arrests have also been made relating to damage to the windows at the school.

In addition I have put in place a lamp post mounted CCTV camera on Washington Road. 

To help put a stop to young adults supplying alcohol to underage people, I have been carrying out plain clothes patrols and caught a local man supplying wine to people underage. He was convicted and received a £100 fine and £60 costs. I intend to continue this type of activity to stop alcohol getting into the hands of underage people.

I have been a Police Officer for over eight years, all of which have been in the Sunderland area. The majority of my time has been with 24/7 response covering Sunderland North. My patrol area covers central Southwick from the river Wear to the quarry.

In March 2013, I commenced my current role as NBM for the area and my priorities are:
