I have been a police officer and have also worked at Gateshead for the last 13 years.

I have worked in the east of Gateshead for the last five years where I have been and continue to be, the Neighbourhood Beat Manager for the Leam Lane area.

The ‘Leam’ is both a challenging and rewarding neighbourhood to work in, and I see it as my job to identify policing issues and find long-term solutions to them, this is done with the assistance of the local authority and other policing partners which include the residents themselves.

My day-to-day duties involve ensuring close links are maintained with all sections of the local communities.

I have been a police officer in Northumbria Police since 2001 and have spent all of this time working in the Gateshead area.

I have been the Neighbourhood Beat Manager for the Pelaw and Heworth areas since November 2006. Prior to my employment with Northumbria Police I worked in local government for four years.

I see my role within the community to both identify and tackle issues around crime and disorder in tandem with our partnership agencies.

My name is Andrew Harrison and I work as a Police Community Support Officer in the Windy Nook and Felling areas.

I have three schools in my area which I visit on a regular basis, these being Windy Nook Primary, The Drive Primary and Fall Park Primary. One of the main reasons for visiting these local schools is so that young children do not feel afraid and concerned when they see a police officer in the street.

This will hopefully make us more approachable to them in the future. I am also going to try to arrange a series of events within the school around stranger danger, effective 999 call making, bullying and road safety. This will make sure that the children are knowledgeable of how to keep themselves safe and away from aspects of danger.

The main problems that I am trying to tackle in my area are off road motorcycling, under age drinking and anti-social behaviour.

To help me do this I attend the local councillors’ surgeries, as well as holding my own drop in centres throughout the Felling and Windy Nook areas.

I am the Police Community Support Officer for the Windy Nook areas of Gateshead and have worked for Northumbria Police since July 2008. My main role is to provide public reassurance to the local community when they need it most. High visibility patrols, dealing with low order crime and disorder, attending meetings with partner agencies and dealing with anti social behaviour are a regular part of my working day.

I have a regular input into two local primary schools, being St John The Baptists and Windy Nook Primary School. Here I give talks to the pupils about a range of subjects such as bullying, stranger danger and criminal damage.

I am available to members of the public, to discuss the problems they are having. I hope that together we can find solutions to these problems, and make Gateshead a safer place to live in.

My name is Sara Wright and I am a Police Community Support Officer for the Leam Lane Estate. I joined Northumbria police in March 2008 and previously worked in customer services.

In my role I am responsible for dealing with anti-social behaviour; off road motorcycling and underage drinking. To help me do this I attend the local councillors’ surgeries as well as holding my own drop-in centre.

My main role is to provide high visibility patrols throughout my area to help in reducing crime and disorder and to build trust and confidence within the community.

I started my police career in 1997 with the Cleveland force after serving an aircraft engineer in the RAF.

I transferred to Northumbria six years later and have worked Gateshead ever since.

I joined the neighbourhood team to forge close links with the community in which I work.  Wardley is my area of responsibility and I aim to make myself available to members of the public, providing a point of contact to discuss local or recurring problems.

I am the Neighbourhood Sergeant for the East area of Gateshead. I provide leadership and direction to a team consisting of police officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and Special Constables.

I ensure that the team provide high visibility patrols in the right place and the right time to respond to the needs of the community.

I am Darren Sweeney, the Neighbourhood Inspector for the East of Gateshead. I currently have responsibility for a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Team which includes Beat Managers and  Community Support Officers.

The priority of the Neighbourhood Policing Team is to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, whilst also tackling the fear of these issues. We aim to work with the communities to identify matters of local concern and build trust and confidence. To achieve this, my team will also work closely with elected Councillors and partner agencies.

I am committed to improving the quality of life for all communities within Gateshead East, which incorporates Felling, Heworth, Leam Lane, Pelaw, Wardley and Windy Nook.
