Whitley Bay Northumbria Police Police Local Neighbourhood

I am the Neighbourhood Beat Inspector for Whitley Bay.

I am pleased to be in charge of the Neighbourhood Policing Team for this area of North Tyneside. Neighbourhood officers are an important part of providing a local policing service tailored to the needs of the community. 

I work closely with local residents, businesses and partners to listen to their concerns and deliver the best possible policing service which responds to the needs of local people.

As Neighbourhood Inspector I am responsible for improving the quality of life for residents by reducing crime and disorder.

Assisting me in achieving this are my teams of officers which include:

• Shift patrol officers who cover 24 hours a day

• Neighbourhood Sergeants and Constables

• Neighbourhood Detectives

• PCSOs

• Special Constables

Where necessary and in order to police specific events or problems I also have access to specialist units including the Area Support Group, Motor Patrols and the Horse and Dog sections.

Much of our work involves long term problem solving where, together with partners in the Local Authority and other Agencies, we target crime and disorder hotspots and also address issues such as anti-social behaviour, underage drinking and graffiti.

I am the newly appointed Neighbourhood Beat Manager for Whitley Bay; my area of responsibility is Cullercoats, Marden Estate and Preston Grange.

My role as a neighbourhood beat officer is to tackle crime, disorder and anti social behaviour by monitoring reported incidents and directing resources via intelligence led high visability policing to meet the needs of the local communities.

One of my reponsibilities is to maintain peace and to encourage the reduction and prevention of crime by identifying the problems of crime, disorder, anti social behaviour and other quality of life issues experienced by all sections of the local community; particularly vulnerable groups.

I will aim to provide a high visibilty uniformed presence, giving reassurance to the local community and hopefully reducing fear of crime.

I am a Neighbourhood Beat Manager (NBM) for Whitley Bay. I cover the area of Monkseaton - which keeps the team busy.

My main role is tackling crime and disorder by monitoring reported incidents and directing resources towards any problems. These resources could be local officers, such as ourselves, Community Support Officers and other Area Command staff, as well as force wide resources - Including the Mounted or Marine sections. These resources are not limited to police staff and can include officers from the Local Authority or other agencies.

We also look at long term issues, where some issues persist an attempt to look at long term solutions such as Operation Child Safe, which tackles juvenile disorder at weekends, are put in place.

I chose to be an NBM as I like working with the community to tackle the issues affecting people's lives and hope that, by building links with the community and other agencies, we can be successful in reducing these problems.

My role as a neighbourhood beat officer is to meet the needs of local communities, uphold the protection of life and property, maintain peace and encourage the reduction or prevention of crime through the identification of problems of crime, disorder and other quality of life issues experienced by all sections of the local community, particularly vulnerable groups. The role also includes involvement in problem solving initiatives aimed at addressing the underlying causes of many of these issues. Provision of a highly visible uniformed presence, aimed at reassuring the local community and reducing the fear of crime.

I joined Northumbria Police in July 1985 working in Newcastle City Centre and Byker and the Marine Unit, as the first woman police diver in the force. I came to North Tyneside in 1994 as a 24/7 police officer responding to calls from the public before starting as a Neighbourhood Beat Manager in September 2009.

I joined Northumbria Police in 1990 having served six years in the RAF as an aircraft engineer working on Tornados. I was originally stationed at Blyth, joined the CID in late 1992 and have worked on numerous murders and drug related deaths before returning to uniform shifts in December 1999.

I moved over to the Neighbourhood Policing Team in April 2002 as I believe partnership work is the mainstay of achieving long term solutions.

Together with PC Garry Watson, I am responsible for the geographic area of Shiremoor & West Allotment and are main role is totackle crime and disorder and built trust within the neighbourhood. To achieve this we work closely with many organisations such as North Tyneside Council, Shiremoor Primary School, Shiremoor Adventure Playground, Moorbridge School & North Tyneside Disability Forum (NTDF) , to name but a few.

Within our Neighbourhood Policing Team we all have specialist knowledge and interests which collectively we draw upon - I actively take on cases which involve domestic abuse, people with mental health issues and matters involving young people.

I am the liaison officer for both the Hate Crime Safe Reporting Centre at the NTDF based at the Shiremoor Centre & LGB&T related issues for the Whitley Bay Sector.I enjoying working with the young people at the NTDF and I am qualified in British Sign Language to Level 3 with iBSL and would welcome any contact from anyone whose first language is British Sign Language.

We occasionally patrol on a mountain bikes as this gives us the flexibility to proactively patrol areas which would be impossible in a car and extremely difficult on foot. On Friday and Saturday late shifts we use the bikes to target youth and alcohol related disorder. The vast majority of our young people are fantastic and we have a good rapport with them. The small few that do cause us concern we try, often with the help of other organisations, to divert them from their behaviour but should this fail they are left no doubt that we will actively target them.

I am a Neighbourhood Beat Manager (NBM) for Whitley Bay.

I have been a police officer for over 15 years having worked throughout Northumbria in a variety of roles including CID, The Serious Incident Squad and Licensing. I am currently part of the Neighbourhood team at Whitley Bay.

My area of responsibility is the town centre which includes South Parade.

My main role is tackling crime, disorder and anti social behaviour by monitoring reported incidents and directing resources via intelligence led high visibility Policing.

I also look into longer term strategies to reduce crime and disorder including the Whitley Bay Pubwatch Scheme and presentations to our local schoolchildren and youth associations on a wide range of issues.

I chose to be an NBM as I like working with the community to tackle the issues affecting people's lives and hope that, by building links with the community and other agencies, we can be successful in reducing these problems.

I have lived in Whitley Bay all of my life and have a good understanding of the problems associated with the area. As both a resident and a Police Officer I am committed to ensuring Whitley Bay remains a safe place to live and work.

My job involves having a good understanding of the main crime issues affecting Whitley Bay Sector.

I have been in  the force for more than 16 years, many of which have been spent as a 24/7 response officer in the North Tyneside area. I am a local to the area and have lived in North Tyneside all my life so I have a good local understanding.

Reporting directly to the Neighbourhood Inspector, I manage a team consisting of Neighbourhood Beat Managers (NBMs), Community Support Officers (CSOs) and Special Constables.

We aim to meet the needs of local people and make our communities safer through intelligence-led crime and disorder reduction in the Whitley Bay area of North Tyneside.

Part of my role includes developing tactical options to address crime patterns and trends through the management of :

Providing focused, visible, reassurance-based uniform patrol.

Operating in the right place at the right time.

Identifying and implementing problem solving initiatives using NBMs/ CSOs and other relevant resources.

Building closer links with local communities is a vital part of ensuring success.

As the Neighbourhood Beat Manager for Whitley Bay.

I chose this role to work within the community offering a service for the local residents and others in the area.  My main role is to tackle crime and disorder and to provide a visible uniform presence to reassure the public.  I am to achieve this by working with the local community, councillors and other partners, to tackle crime and disorder issues in the local area.

As a Neighbourhood Beat Manager I provide a vital link between the community and the police linking up with local people and community groups and helping them tackle problems by working with partners.  I'm keen to work closely with all members of the local community, so if you see me while out on patrol do stop and have a chat, as I'm happy to get to know local people and help you with any policing issues you may have.

I have been a police officer since 2003 working in North Tyneside Area Command. Initially I worked as a 24/7 officer responding to calls from the public in North Shields and Whitley Bay. I have also spent some time working with the burglary team before joining the Killingworth Neighbourhood Policing Team in November 2007.
