1. May 2012: Anti-social behaviour in vicinity of Cruddas Park

"What you told us"
 
Police and partners have received an increased number of reports of anti-social behaviour, mainly by youths, in the vicinity of Cruddas Park Community Centre and shopping mall. This behaviour largely relates to youths drinking alcohol and causing disorder in the area as a result.

"What we are doing about it"

Police have increased patrols in the area and are working closely with partners to address the issues. A Stand Alone Problem Solving meeting (SAPS) is to be established to address the root causes of the issue and address it as a long-term problem solving approach.

Police are urging local residents to continue to report incidents of anti-social behaviour to us and, in the meantime, will keep you updated with ongoing actions to address the issue.

Police have received reports of increased anti-social behaviour in the vicinity of Summerhill Park and the surrounding streets caused by ‘street drinkers’.

June 1,2011: Anti-social behaviour and street drinkers, Summerhill and Westgate Hill areas.

What you told us

Concerned residents have reported increasing numbers of 'street drinkers' within the Westgate Hill, Summerhill Terrace & Summerhill Park areas of the sector.

This anti social behaviour has been occurring throughout the day into the early hours and is causing obvious nuisance to local residents with drunken rowdy behaviour and persons urinating within doorways.

What we are doing about it

Police officers and community support officers have instigated Operation Summerhill with increased patrols in the area to address the issues.  Partners are working with local residents through a series of problem solving meetings to identify short and long term solutions to the issues raised.

Local neighborhood officers have visited local off licenses and reminded licensees of their obligations under their licenses and have threatened enforcement action if any are found to be committing offences.

Specific individuals and addresses are actively being targeted by police and a number of arrests have been made for public order related offences.

Police rely upon information provided by members of the public and urge everyone to report any ASB to us.

Residents will be kept updated of developments within the problem solving process and police will report directly to the Summerhill Residents Association and Elswick Ward Committee Meetings.
