Ashington Police Local Neighbourhood

I am Inspector Dave Harris and I am responsible within the Ashington Neighbourhood Team for all issues related to crime and disorder. It is my responsibility to co-ordinate a response to core crime issues such as criminal damage and vehicle crime and endeavour to find solutions to the causes of crime. In order to successfully carry out this task I will monitor and target crime patterns and target prolific offenders living in and visiting the area.  I am responsible for providing both leadership and management to the following staff:

• Neighbourhood Sergeant

• Neighbourhood Beat Managers (Constables)

• Special Constabulary

• Community Support Officers

Through my leadership I aim to ensure that my staff and I provide high visibility policing that ensures the needs of the individual neighbourhoods are met whilst also continuing to drive down crime and disorder.

My role also involves forging and maintaining close links with partnership agencies and local councillors in order to promote problem solving within each neighbourhood.

My role as a community beat manager is to work with the local community and reduce crime by:

Identifying crime and disorder and other issues that have an impact on all sections of the local community, particularly vulnerable groups. 

Getting involved in projects that help solve crime issues, aimed at finding long term solutions that get to the root of problem. 

Provide a highly visible uniformed presence, aimed at reassuring the local community and reducing the fear of crime.

I am the Police Community Support Officer covering Ashington Town Centre.  

My main roles are to provide reassurance to the public by conducting hi-visibility patrols.  I also aim to reduce incidents of anti social behaviour by patrolling areas of youth disorder.  I also aim to resolve any concerns / issues identified by residents in this area.

My day to day activities include Information System checks on individuals, checks on licensed premises, alcohol / tobacco confiscations, gathering of intelligence, attending public meetings, providing reassurance, assisting with public events.

I work closely with local schools and have been involved in Bike marking student’s bikes and property.

I am PCSO for Ashington and am looking forward to getting to know the residents and building up contacts within the community. 

I intend to respond to the needs of the community and direct my patrols to areas where my presence is required to deter anti social behaviour and provide public reassurance.

I cover the North Seaton area of Ashington and my role is to provide visible patrols and communication with the community to assist in the reduction of crime and disorder. 

I work closely with Police Officers and partner agencies to help provide public reassurance and community safety.  I also work closely with local schools.

I also assist in running the Ashington sector Neighbourhood Watch schemes.

I am keen to develop existing Neighbourhood Watch Schemes further in the Ashington area, anyone wanting to join the scheme can contact me and I will assist you in joining in excess of 2,000 local residents working with the police to provide further improvements to quality of life issues.  There are a number of benefits to Neighbourhood Watch including discounted house insurance, crime prevention advice, the opportunity to identify community issues to the police and receive information on what Northumbria Police is doing in your area.

My day to day duties include liaising with members of the community in the Town Centre and North Hirst area of Ashington.  

I see my role as one of public reassurance and look for long term solutions to problems in the area. 

A priority highlighted to me is one of anti social behaviour especially on an evening which I deal with through Acceptable Behaviour Agreements I set up between youths, parents, the police and the County Council.  I work with private landlords and the council to improve people's quality of life by dealing with nuisance tenants in a robust and firm manner ensuring the Neighbourhood continues to be a safe environment.

My role as a Neighbourhood Beat Manager is to meet the needs of the Town Centre and North Hirst community by reducing crime, and disorder, becoming involved in problem solving initiatives aimed at addressing the causes of anti social behaviour by redirection activities, education and enforcement techniques.  I feel I am part of the community in which I work so please get in touch if you have any policing issues you wish to bring to my attention.

I am the Neighbourhood Beat Manager for the Town Centre and North Hirst.  I am an experienced officer having worked in uniform roles for the majority of my career, more recently as a scene of crime officer dealing with forensic investigations.     

My main aim in the area is to establish close links with the community and partnership agencies to make a difference in the quality of life for residents.  I will endeavour to work closely with the local schools in order to educate children in matters such as road safety and stranger awareness.

I am a Sergeant on the Ashington Neighbourhood Policing Team at Northumberland Area Command. 

My job involves having a good understanding of the main crime issues affecting Ashington Sector.

Reporting directly to the Neighbourhood Inspector, I manage a team consisting of Neighbourhood Beat Managers (NBMs) and Community Support Officers (CSOs).

We aim to meet the needs of local people and make our communities safer through intelligence-led crime and disorder reduction in the Ashington area.
