Rugby Rural North Police Local Neighbourhood

I joined Warwickshire Police as a Police Constable in 2003. I became a Sergeant in 2016 and in 2018 was promoted to Inspector. I have enjoyed a varied career working in many departments, giving me experience of policing in different areas. I have however spent the vast majority of my service on Patrol. I am dedicated to my role and protecting the communities we serve.

I joined Warwickshire as a Police Officer in September 1990.  I began my career on the beat in the South of the County working in Leamington and Kenilworth before moving to traffic in 1994 where I worked on Warwickshire's motorway network.  From 2002 I worked within the road safety team delivering speed enforcement across the County. In October 2013 I joined the Safer Neighbourhoods Team at Rugby and I am currently the Sergeant responsible for Rugby West and Rural areas.

I joined Warwickshire Police in 2016 as a reactive officer covering Rugby and surrounding villages, prior to this I was a PCSO for four and half years working the busy town centre of Leicester.

My passion is neighbourhood policing, so now I am excited to get out and about and explore rural Rugby. I am keen to find out exactly what matters most to the community and address issues robustly and effectively. I shall do this by working with partner agencies and engagement within the community. Sharon joined the Rugby Rural North Safer Neighbourhood Team in March 2007 and has been covering the Avon/Swift and Wolvey Wards since. If you haven't had a chance to meet her yet, she would like to get to know you, so please introduce yourself to her whilst she is on patrol. Particularly if you have any concerns about your village that you think she should be made aware of and she will do her best to find a solution for you.

Carol is the Rural Crime Officer for Warwickshire North, a post funded by the Office of the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner since 2014.  She covers the rural areas of North Warwickshire district, Nuneaton & Bedworth and Rugby, working from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team office in Atherstone.  Carol works closely with the local beat officers, Crime Prevention Advisor, Community Safety Partnership team and other partners to address crime in our rural areas and provide crime prevention advice.  One of the initiatives Carol has introduced is the Warwickshire Rural Watch website www.warwickshireruralwatch.co.uk which provides lots of information to help and support communities.

Carol is also a Police Support Volunteer with Warwickshire Police which she has done for over 7 years.  She has helped set up Warwickshire Horse Watch (www.warwickshire-horsewatch.co.uk) an award winning proactive scheme to address equine crime and also Warwickshire Rural Watch.  As a PSV Carol has received the British Empire Medal (BEM) from Her Majesty the Queen, a commendation from the Chief Constable, been recognised as a Community Champion attending Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister and received a Highly Commended National Award by the British Association of Women in Policing. 

Carol is passionate about rural and equine crime, coming from a farming background and owning horses herself.  Her role is key in supporting officers on rural beats and addressing crime in rural communities.
