Following experience in business, advertising and teaching James joined West Mercia Police in 2002.

His career has been a mix of frontline operational policing interspersed with project work.

Working as a Patrol PC, Sergeant and Inspector with experience in interview teams and Safer Neighbourhoods Policing gave James the necessary experience to support the formation of the innovative alliance between Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police as a Programme Manager for Local Policing. He also project managed West Mercia's early adoption of Body Worn Video.

James has acquired a breadth of operational experience including a period as Inspector in the Control Room covering both Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police, with responsibility for dealing with spontaneous firearms incidents as a Tactical Firearm Commander. Subsequently he qualified as a cadre Tactical firearms commander, and deals with pre-planned deployments including warrants and royal visits.

A period of 12 months in the Staff Office, working for Chief Constable David Shaw and CC Anthony Bangham gave James the opportunity to gain a more strategic oversight of policing, including taking responsibility for the operational delivery of the national Use of Force recording work under the NPCC Conflict Management Portfolio.

James spent a period managing the Wyre Forest Safer Neighbourhood Team in North Worcestershire where he gained experience of managing SNTs. However, when the opportunity to support his own local area, by taking responsibility for the Herefordshire Rural Safer Neighbourhoods Team, James was keen to take this on and commenced the role in November 2017.

I took over this post in the Summer of 2015 and am excited about policing this part of West Mercia. I have previously worked in neighbourhood teams in Telford and at Force Headquarters. I look forward to meeting you.

Vehicles in the village driving in an anti-social manner.

SNT actively patrolling the areas at during the early to late evening, offending vehicles/drivers will be dealt with for the relevant offences. *Update 2nd Oct* SNT continue to monitor the raised concerns in Weobley/Kington/Shobdon. Several vehicles have been pulled over and given advice for the manner of driving, whilst having documents checked. One driver has been issued with section 59 paperwork. One driver has had his vehicle seized for licence/tax offences. *Update January 2019* SNT still actively patrolling the areas of Weobley, Kington, Shobdon in the evenings targeting vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner. Reassurance is also being provided to those affected by such use. *Update May 2019* An official warning notice has been issued to a driver in Kington after they were spotted driving in an anti-social manner in the Co-Operative car park.

SNT have involved a number partner agencies, the yellow lines have been refreshed, traffic wardens have been actively patrolling solo and with police. All shops have received written notices regarding police activity and social media has also been utilised. SNT will continue to monitor *Update 2nd Oct* SNT have undertaken joint patrols with Civil Enforcement Officers. In excess of 12 tickets have been issued during joint patrols. Civil Enforcement Officers continue to patrol without police most weeks. *Update January 2019* a fresh, problem solving approach is being adopted by SNT in line with force procedures & policy. *Update May 2019* SNT actively patrol Kington high street to engage and deter those parking their vehicles on double-yellow lines. Extra attention is placed on the busiest times of the day so our efforts can ease traffic congestion for the town.

Residents have raised concerns with parish councils and face to face with the SNT of speeding vehicles within villages and towns across the area, The public have therefore raised 'speeding' as their highest concern at the following locations - Kington, Weobley, Monkland, Lyonshall, Shobdon, Eardisley, and Winforton.

SNT officers are carrying out speed checks across all areas, as well as enforcing the speed limits by way of reporting offenders for the offence. *Update May 2019*. SNT have conducted speed enforcement sessions across local towns and villages within the policing area, multiple drivers reported for speeding offences.
